Spiritually Connecting During the Autumn Equinox
Twice a year, on the spring and autumn equinoxes, the day and night are the same length. In September, the sun’s long reign comes to an end and he is “conquered” by his partner, the moon. For the next three months, the nights will grow longer and stay longer than the day until the day and night become equals once again at the spring equinox.
So what’s this got to do with spirituality? Well, people are part of Nature. Nature is now transitioning from a time of action to rest. We’re moving from the fire element of summer to the water element of fall.
Masculine energy is giving way to feminine. We’re moving from outer directed energy to inner directed energy. If you’re not moving with the flow of Nature, you may be out of sync.
For many of us, change is not easy. This is true with equinox energy too. Things may feel disruptive right now. If it does, sink into the discomfort. Allow it to show you how you are out of balance. Let it instruct you. That’s what this Libra (symbolized by the scales) energy is all about.
What are you holding on to that no longer serves you? Like the falling autumn leaves, it’s time to let go. This makes space for new things to come in so that renewal can happen in the spring.
In astrology, the energy of the asteroid Chiron is also very active right now. Chiron represents your woundedness – especially the wounds that originated in your past lives. You may feel old stuff coming up just now.
Perhaps it’s time to face all that so that that can finally be released. If others seem uptight, it could be because we’re all being tweaked. So go easy on yourself and others. What’s happening is there for your healing not your torment. So use it.
Libra is about balance, but it’s also about partnership, connection. It’s a great time to move into compassion and relationship. People need people. When we are bonded and feel a sense of belonging, we are happy. Don’t wait for someone to reach out to you. Why not be brave and vulnerable and lead the way? It’s a great time for it.
As we move with the wheel of life, we are always where we need to be. We don’t have to be anxious about the next move because we can trust that whatever happens is exactly what needs to happen.
Our mind, body, and spirit are in alignment because that’s its natural state. So, get outside! Breathe in the air. Gaze at the setting or rising sun. Feel the crispness of the morning air. And be like the leaves- let things go.
