What I Learned From Sacred Scotland

You know how you read something, see something, or hear something and think you know it. Then you live it, and now you know it in your bones? The "Go Wild" tour in Scotland did that for me. I can't say I had any huge "ah ha" moments. It was like things mellowed and deepened. Here is my list of what I learned from Scotland in no particular order. You Have to Walk on Rainy Days It rains between 150 and 250 days per year in Scotland. Even on the days it doesn't rain, it's cloudy and still damp from the day before. If you hid away inside and waited for better weather, you'd never go out. Life is like this. Stuff that you don't like happens every day. If you let it...

Don’t Be Afraid of the Dark

Lots of people are afraid of the dark. For some, I mean this literally. For others I mean that they identify their fears and then respond to it as if it were wicked, evil, dangerous, or some other word meaning "bad." Then they put a lot of energy into avoiding it. Hey, guys. Don't be afraid of the dark. The universal law of polarity says that there are no boogey men. Everything in creation has a positive purpose. We can't have light without dark. Abundance exists beside scarcity. War and peace are partners. So are life and death. There is nothing scary about these things. They are all natural phenomena. What makes a thing "bad" is when it's in the wrong place at the wrong time. Using it for the wrong purpose...

Will You Refuse the Call to Adventure?

In every life there are many calls to adventure. When you accept, you may have fun. You may get beat down a bit, but you always grow. If you do enough of these, you become the hero of your own story. If you refuse enough of these, they stop coming. Think about this before you refuse the call to adventure. Let me break this down for you so that you know the call when it happens. Ordinary World We all start out in the ordinary world as ordinary people. Life is comfortable. We know what to expect, but there is also something uncomfortable about it. Or like Dorothy in the Wizard of Oz, we may be in a space of Ignorance is Bliss. Call to Adventure Then the call to adventure hits! It could be...

Are You Creating Imbalance?

If you are on a quest for spiritual or personal growth, you probably are on the look out for things that are wrong. You may want to reach your maximum potential and live your purpose. So you go about reaching for the good and correcting the bad. But are you creating imbalance? What do I mean? Well, it's tempting to judge things as "good" and "bad or perhaps "desirable" and "not desirable." We cultivate what we think will make us happy, strong, wealthy, and healthy and seek to eradicate anything that isn't that. Or perhaps we isolate ourselves from people, places, and things that we feel are negative. Let's look at this as if it were a garden. We want a beautiful, thriving garden that gives us pleasure and food to nurture our bodies...

Become Infinitely Spiritual

When you live with the understanding of what has already been discovered through physics, your world changes. You create the possibility to become infinitely spiritual. To explain what I mean, let's take a look at some of what we know to be true. The mind does not reside within the brain. Consciousness exists and acts outside the brain and outside spacetime. Anything that happens is known (or discoverable) anywhere in the universe. Reality is a mental construct. If we change the construct, we change the reality. People can communicate and influence other people and things anywhere in the universe. This is how energy healing and telepathy happen. Travel beyond the speed of light is possible. Time travel into the future is possible. Time travel into the past is not impossible. The...

Cultural Appropriation and the Spiritual Traveler

Anyone who is interested in leaving home to find yourself and deepen your spirituality has got to have a conversation about cultural appropriation and the spiritual traveler at some point. Am I right? So let's start with a definition. "Cultural" means of or relating to a culture. "Appropriation" means to take. So "cultural appropriation" means the use or adoption of cultural elements of one culture by another. For example, if an American woman were to wear a sari (the traditional dress of women in India), this could be called cultural appropriation. Now usually this is a derogatory term used to accuse the "taker" of a misdeed, but cultural trends are always evolving. Sometimes thing change with time. For example, early Christianity isn't the same as modern Christianity. Sometimes things change with distance or...

Ladies, Embody the Divine Feminine

Ladies, it's time to throw off the yoke of patriarchy and live your divine feminine! The world is a sick place. We embraced freedom without responsibility or boundaries, and we now live in a world where we take what we want without regard for how it impacts others. Consequently, we have a society where children disrespect their parents, the elderly are uncared for, the earth is polluted and raped of her resources, and everyone feels isolated and alone. Enough! The way forward is for women to remember and live their divine essence. We are the creators. We are the nurturers. When we take our rightful place in society, the children and men will follow. How? Stop Trying to Be a Man All creatures have masculine and feminine energy; however, we're still only one gender....

Finding Yourself

Some people think they are too bogged down in the task of every day living to find themselves. So, they get away from their every day lives to create space. They go somewhere - a retreat center where they do things, a workshop where they learn things, or perhaps it's about finding inspiration to get going on their dream. Sometime it's just about being alone in the woods. All of these things can help. Yet until you go within and get in a place of peace with what you find there, whatever you find outside of you will likely just be a distraction that gets you through until the next time that old unease creeps in again. "You" are not "out there." "You" are in here. Finding yourself happens when you are...

If Something’s Missing, Create Space

The universe is mostly made up of what we see as empty space. Atoms and cells are also mostly empty space. This is part of the universal design. Universal law says "As above, so below." So, why do we humans go against the grain and do everything we can to fill up that space? We get more, more, more then ask, "Why do I feel so empty?" If something's missing, create space. Why Create Space In order for energy to flow, it needs space. When energy isn't flowing, things get stagnant and unhealthy. Our physical health declines. Creativity gets bogged down. Our ability to receive is compromised. Ideas languish. We get so busy maintaining the things within the space that we don't get to enjoy them or live life. We lose the ability...

Blessings from Sun Island

We boarded the catamaran from Copacabana, Bolivia heading towards Sun Island. Excited? You bet. This place is called many things: the navel of the earth, the home of the earth's sacral chakra, the birthplace of the Inca civilization, birthplace of the sun, and also the spot where the Rainbow and Plumed serpents cross paths - one of the most powerful places on earth! Here is the conjunction of other opposites as well: man and woman; sun and moon (the Sun Island and Moon Island); positive and negative; light and dark. Although Sun Island is the largest island on Lake Titicaca, it feels small, intimate, quiet, and mysterious. There are no bars, restaurants, or even roads! I noticed flowers, wind, stones, the air, and sky here. How could I not? Nature makes...
